LAFAYETTE, La. - The 14th ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is set to face in-state foe Northwestern State on the road in Natchitoches, La. at Brown-Stroud Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Fans can listen to the contest live on ESPN 1420-AM with Jay Walker calling the play-by-play. There will also be a live stream available on www.NSUDemons.com.
The Cajuns (3-1) are coming off of a series win against Eastern Illinois in which the squad averaged six runs a game and posted two shutouts. Offensively, senior Seth Harrison leads the way going 7-for-17 at the plate with a double, triple and home run and drove in two runs against the Panthers.
Senior right-hander Matt Plitt is slated to make the start against the Demons. Plitt threw 2.2 innings giving up one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts in the EIU series. The Texas City, Texas native made three starts in 2013 posting a 4-1 record with a 4.19 ERA.
Northwestern State (1-2) is slated to start freshman left-hander Austin Tanner. Tanner threw one scoreless inning over the weekend against Jacksonville State.
The contest is the home opener for the Demons. NSU comes into the contest having dropped two of three games to the Gamecocks this past weekend despite scoring as many runs as JSU in the series.
Regan Kaufman led the way offensively for Northwestern State against the Gamecocks going 3-for-7 with two RBIs and three walks.
After the NSU game, the Ragin' Cajuns will head to Hattiesburg, Miss. to face Southern Miss in a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
