LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Beer and liquor sales at the Cajundome could be halted unless a dispute surrounding $1.4 million in overdue sales taxes is resolved.
The alcohol permit for the Cajundome and Convention Center is due for renewal Saturday. As part of the renewal, the Cajundome must obtain state and local sales tax clearance certificates.
The state tax collector's office provided its clearance certificate. The Lafayette Parish school system's sales tax division has not.
Without the clearance certificate, the Cajundome and Convention Center cannot keep its alcohol permit and will not be able to sell beer and liquor at events.
Cajundome Director Greg Davis said Thursday alcohol and beer sales account for about $1.1 million in revenue for the Cajundome and Convention Center each year.
