UPDATE: An investigator trained in child exploitation testified, he received information that Larry Caillier, Jr. was sending and receiving explicit pictures via cell phone with a female student at Opelousas High.
The investigator also says Caillier even tried to meet the minor.
According to authorities sexually explicit photos were on both Caillier's cellphone and the student's.
The defense called several character witnesses to testify, but it was the testimony of Caillier's 22-year-old girlfriend that was most significant. His girlfriend first testified all of the female images taken from were of her, but when the prosecution questioned her she contradicted that.
The defense requested she look at the 113 photos again she then stated they were all of her.
The judge ruled not enough evidence was presented to ensure Caillier would not be a danger to the public while awaiting trial.
Two days before Larry Caillier Junior was in court to face a federal judge he called Opelousas Police after he says someone robbed his home.
During the investigation Caillier told police he had gone out of town for a few hours but when he came home he noticed a door under his carport was busted open. Police say Caillier told them $20,000 worth of items were stolen.
"We collected fingerprints at the scene but don't know if they will be substantial enough to help us identify a suspect," said Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow.
Chief Gallow says police have interviewed several neighbors, but no one noticed anything out of the ordinary. Police are searching for a person of interest.
Police say they cannot determine this case and the ongoing child pornography case involving Caillier are connected.
Meantime, Caillier is scheduled to be back in federal court Wednesday on the pornography charges.
