SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - More than 150 Caddo Parish school employees have received layoff notices.
KTBS television reports that the employees got the notices Wednesday.
The move came after the Caddo School Board approved a proposal by Superintendent Gerald Dawkins to begin staff reductions to help balance the district's budget.
More than 300 positions are to be eliminated, including 147 already vacant.
School administrators have emphasized that no teachers are being laid off in this most recent staff reduction. The latest cuts involve support staff positions.
