SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A Caddo Parish School Board candidate has
been booked with felony theft and practicing law after being
disbarred.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says Ronnie K. Banks Sr.
was being held Wednesday in lieu of $35,000 bond.
She says a 70-year-old woman reported hiring Banks in December -
two months after he was disabarred - and paying him $500 for legal
services she never received.
Chadwick also says a business accused him of reporting a lost
check, cashing the $976 replacement and - weeks later - cashing the
check he had reported lost.
The Louisiana Supreme Court disbarred Banks in October 2009 for
a theft conviction, lying to a judge, neglect, and charging
excessive fees or failing to refund unearned fees.
It was not clear if Banks had an attorney.
