On August 20, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Stuart Henderson conducted a stop on a car traveling eastbound on I-10 near Vinton for a traffic violation, according to a news release.
When Sgt. Henderson spoke with the driver, Aaron D. Dantzler, 21, Purvis, Mississippi, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.
During a subsequent search of the car, Sgt. Henderson recovered two luggage bags in the trunk of the car containing 35 pounds of marijuana wrapped in cellophane, with an estimated street value of $35,000.
Dantzler was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of CDS I (marijuana) with intent to distribute; and driving under suspension.
His bond is still pending.
