If you've ever driven down I10 to or from Baton Rouge chances are you spotted Henderson Police and if you were speeding, you might have have been pulled over too.
"I wish they would lighten up on 'em and I don't want this to be known as the speed capitol of I10."
Business owners like Tommy Diesi says the Henderson Police Department's vigilance in handing out speeding tickets is hurting his business.
"When they come off the bridge they complain about when they come through here both ways that they get a ticket and stuff like that and they not able to spend money in my store."
But Henderson Police Chief Leroy Guidry doesn't see it that way.
"If you're speeding, you're committing a highway crime."
Since 2004 Henderson Police have had a policy of not stopping speeders going less than ten miles over the speed limit--- focusing instead on serious speeders.
"I would like for these people to think about what if it we're their child or their breadwinner commuting from baton rouge. We've slowed that traffic down so they can travel safely."
But business owners along I10 in Nina believe traveler's will now think twice before stopping in Henderson.
"They'll bypass us and they won't stop here and they'll go onto to Baton Rouge or into Lafayette."
