Business owner says theres a lot to be thankful for, even after fire

"I'm thankful that nobody was hurt and because that would be the worse thing," said owner of All Wood Furniture, David Duhon. "We can move on with this, but if someone would have gotten hurt, I wouldn't be able to move on with that."

Firefighters from across Acadiana came to Carencro to help battle the blaze at the All Wood Furniture shop. Duhon watched as his shop went up in flames. He says it was a like a nightmare he couldn't wake up from, but is thankful that, because of the holiday, no one was inside when the fire started.

"We've been in this building for 16 years now," said Duhon. "The whole crew that works with us is like family. We have probably 12, to 15, guys that work in this building."

Duhon says his two store locations will remain open, they just need to find another place to build furniture.

"We're just gonna have to figure out what were gonna do to keep going. I mean, we can't just shut down because of this. It is sad though," said Duhon.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause is still under investigation. Several crews remained on scene throughout the day to make sure the fire was completely out.

"Being it's Thanksgiving, normally we're home with our families, but today, we got assistance from almost every fire department in Lafayette Parish due to the size of the fire," said Carencro Fire Chief Oren Haydel. "We want to thank Scott, Lafayette, Duson, Judice, Broussard and Youngsville for sending many power out to give us a hand."
