Business, home raided in synthetic marijuana investigation

A Lafayette business and home were raided today by Metro Narcotics agents as part of an investigation into the sale of synthetic marijuana.

Captain John Babin of Lafayette Metro Narcotics says agents served warrants at the Smoke Shop in the 3300 block of Johnston Street and a home in the 100 block of Vital Street. Babin says his agency has several suspects, but he refused to disclose their names or any other information about the case.

According to Babin, this is the first business raid relating to synthetic marijuana this year.
