November 12, 2010 - Effective today, The Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) has lifted the outdoor burn ban, but expects it to be a temporary reprieve.
Rain is forecasted to impact Calcasieu Parish for the next several days, reducing the unusually dry conditions which have been present for the past several weeks.
However, Emergency Preparedness officials want to stress that today's lifting of the burn ban may only be temporary. "Based off of long-range weather forecasts, there's a strong possibility for drought conditions to return again," says OHSEP Director Dick Gremillion. "If these conditions return, the burn ban will be re-instated for the safety of Parish residents."
