PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) - A Prairieville man sought in connection with the theft of $30,000 in jewelry and guns from an Ascension Parish home has been arrested and returned to the parish from Georgia.

The Advocate reports that 32-year-old Shane Medine surrendered to authorities in Gwinnett County, Ga., and arrived at the Ascension Parish jail on Dec. 30.

Ascension deputies say Medine and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Amber Gorenflo, may be connected to multiple burglaries. Gorenflo was booked in November.

Medine was booked with simple burglary, felony theft of a firearm, simple criminal damage to property, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and failure to register as a sex offender.

Deputies said most of the stolen property has been recovered.

It was unclear whether either Medine or Gorenflo has an attorney.
