Leonard Julien Thomas, 49, of Port Barre, was arrested yesterday shortly after Port Barre police answered a burglary complaint at Port Barre High School. School maintenance personnel noticed the coke machine in the teachers lounge had been severely damaged and broken into. Police viewed the surveillance system at the school, which contained proof of Thomas committing the act.
Thomas, who is already out on bond from a seperate home burglary arrest, was once again arrested at his home by Port Barre police. Thomas, is now a suspect in several recent area burglaries, and was booked and charged with Simple Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespassing and Criminal Mischief. Thomas was brought before the 27th JDC this morning and was given an $8,500 bond. He has since bonded out of jail.
