The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement says is has responded to a loss of well control in the Gulf of Mexico.
The incident took place about 108 miles southwest of Lafayette in Vermilion Block 356.
BSEE says EnVen was operating the rig, which was drilling in 256 feet of water. BSEE adds that the adjacent platform was producing oil and gas and has been shut-in.
According to BSEE, personnel from both the rig and the platform have been evacuated.
