BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Senate has unanimously

confirmed Gov. Bobby Jindal's pick for interim lieutenant governor,

Scott Angelle. A House vote also is expected Wednesday.

Angelle, a Democrat from Breaux Bridge, is currently working as

natural resources secretary for Jindal. If approved by the House,

Angelle will lead the office left open when Mitch Landrieu became

mayor of New Orleans.

The appointment will last until either a new lieutenant governor

is elected or the office is abolished, as Jindal proposes.

Meanwhile, the governor's push to strip the lieutenant governor

of his responsibilities over museums, state parks and tourism has

been rejected by a House committee.

The House and Governmental Affairs Committee voted 9-8 against

the idea Wednesday, but it could be brought up again later this

session.
