Residents of Happy Town and Sherburne were ordered to leave town Saturday morning.
Because of the mandatory evacuations, American Redcross volunteers setup an emergency shelter at Breaux Bridge High School to assist evacuees.
However, volunteers say only one evacuee came to the shelter the entire day.
Because of the low turnout, organizers closed the shelter.
Tony Credeur with American Redcross says it's not unusual to have a low turnout because residents plan ahead when dealing with natural disasters.
"I've been doing this for quite a few years, most of the evacuees make arrangements to go with their family," said Credeur.
Even though the shelter is closed, Credeur says they will offer their help when its needed.
"We will keep this shelter on standby," said Credeur.
For those needing a shelter, contact the information lines and register at the St.Martin OHSEP at 394-2810 or 394-2811.
