Breaux Bridge business owners are coming together bringing back an old fashioned Christmas hoping to to attract customers by offering a unique experience.
Grover Angelle said he remembers when going into town was much more than just a shopping trip.
Angelle's Old Fashioned Burger owner, Grover Angelle, said "I remember going to buy shoes in town and there would be cookies or you'd go down to the drug store and they'd have hot cocoa."
This holiday season he decided local businesses should bring back that giving spirit and do something extra for customers, so he teamed up with other downtown business owners to host an old-fashioned Christmas, La Fete Papa Noel.
Angelle said, "this is a place to bring the family you can walk around there's good eats and arts and crafts."
Marilyn Fine Jewelry owner, Marilyn Guidry, said "the whole purpose is to bring newcomers and show some appreciation to people who have supported us over the years."
Live bands will be out in the streets playing for customers as they shop. You'll even get some free food and drinks, while it lasts at some of the stores. Also, they'll be Santa Clause and pony rides, face painting and other activities for kids.
Angelle said it'll be an experience you can't get in a major department store filled with holiday cheer and one of a kind gifts, many of them original arts and crafts.
The festivities will be happening the last two Fridays before Christmas on December 16th and 23rd from 5 pm to 8 pm. Shoppers on those days will also be eligible to win a gift basket filled with 20 dollar gift certificates from each of the participating businesses. The winner will be drawn on December 23rd.
