BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police say a corporal has resigned from the department after being arrested on charges he assaulted a woman he had been seeing after jimmying a lock to get into her house.
Sgt. Don Stone says in a police news release that 49-year-old Mitchell Duncan was arrested Thursday night on two counts each of simple battery and unauthorized entry, and one of malfeasance in office.
He says the 11-year veteran was in uniform and on duty during the incidents, both on Wednesday.
The news release says Duncan used a knife to manipulate the lock on the woman's door.
It was not clear Friday whether Duncan had an attorney.
