BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 58-year-old Baton Rouge man's Christmas holiday came with a little something extra - a lottery ticket worth $1.25 million.
Louisiana Lottery officials say Ralph Andrews was the sole winner of the state's Dec. 24 Lotto jackpot, which he claimed at lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge last week. Andrews received $895,580 after state and federal taxes were withheld. There's no word on what he plans to do with the proceeds.
Officials said Tuesday that Andrews bought the winning lottery ticket from Fast Lyon on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge. The store will get a one-time bonus of $12,500, or 1 percent of the prize, for selling Andrews the winning ticket.
