LAFAYETTE, LA - The Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana held their annual board meeting Wednesday, January 16, 2013. The meeting was held to discuss the success of 2012 and the goals for 2013. The past year was a successful year for the Boys & Girls Clubs. The club made a huge impact for over 3,000 kids served in the Acadiana area. The goals for 2013 which were discussed at the meeting included having 6 months of operating reserves in place, having engaged board members who understand their roles, functional annual campaign with 75-80% donor retention, special events becoming bonus revenue, 75% of operating budget coming from individual donors, having at least three planned gifts in place (minimum of $500k) and having major gifts, planned gifts and endowment program in place. Also discussed were strong partnerships and collaborations, healthy children in the Clubs, additional youth being served, additional staff in place, additional mentors engaged in Clubs, additional donors and dollars in support of Clubs.
At this meeting Jerry Prejean, Sr. Vice- President & Private Banking Manager of Iberia Bank, who was the 2012 Chief Volunteer Officer received the Chairman's Award. He was commended for the great job he has done. He was very involved and made a huge difference in this organization. Although Mr. Prejean will be stepping down he will still continue to be involved with the organization and continue to make a difference.
Bob Sellman, Director of Sales of West Louisiana at AT&T, was named the new CVO for BGC. Mr. Sellman was very involved with the BGC Board in 2012 and plans on being even more involved in 2013 as CVO. Mr. Sellman says, "I am a former Boys & Girls Club kid and this is something I deeply believe in. I was helped along the way from my neighborhood Club in Massachusetts. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve." Mr. Sellman will serve as the CVO until December 31, 2013.
