Boyfriend Charged with Arson

A late night house fire causes a trailer to be a total loss.

Just after 10:45pm Wednesday night, Lafayette police and fire department were on the scene of a major house fire. When officials arrived at 215 N.Girouard Road, there was heavy smoke and flames spewing out of the trailer home. Owner Heather Hammons was not home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries sustained.

After a through investigation, officials determined that the cause of the fire was arson. Hammons' boyfriend, 28 year old Sidney Syon, of Broussard was charged with Simple Arson for setting the fire. He was also arrested and charged for other offenses relating to the that incident.
