BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Mary Roberts of Boyce came home from the grocery store and found her husband sitting at the computer shaking.
What had Mike Roberts so shaken up were the winning numbers he saw for the Powerball's Feb. 11 drawing. They matched those on the ticket the couple had, making them winners of a $1 million prize. The Boyce couple received $700,000 after state and federal taxes were withheld.
The Roberts say they are regular Powerball and Louisiana Lotto players. Usually, they use their children's birthdays to choose their numbers, but opted this time for a Quick Pick and let the numbers be randomly generated by the lottery's computer system.
The winning ticket matched the first five numbers drawn, but missed the Powerball. The winning numbers were 1-10-37-52-57 and Powerball 11.
