NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (AP) - An Assumption Parish grand jury has indicted a 15-year-old Dorseyville boy with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a teenager with a 9-inch butcher knife.
Prosecutors tells The Advocate the teenager will be tried as an adult in the March 8 slaying of Eric Myles Jr., who also was 15.
A second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison.
District Attorney Ricky Babin said Monday the suspect and Myles were both sophomores at Assumption High School.
Sheriff Mike Waguespack two teens were swinging fists at each other and then one juvenile backed away, pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed Myles in the side.
