Washington, DC - Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after visiting Hearts of Hope in Lafayette earlier today:
"Victims of sexual abuse and sexual assault do not always reach out for help after such a traumatizing experience. Hearts of Hope seeks to act as a refuge for these victims by providing care and assistance for these victims free of charge. It has been a part of our South Louisiana community for over thirty years by raising community awareness, providing prevention education, and training new volunteers. The services Hearts of Hope provides remain as important today as when it was founded. I thank the organization for allowing me to come in and tour its facility to learn more about the work it does in South Louisiana."
Hearts of Hope serves the parishes of Lafayette, Acadia, Vermilion, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Landry, and Evangeline.
