Congressman Charles Boustany claims there are more mistakes that have been made by Veterans Affairs, furthering delays for the Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Lafayette and Lake Charles. In a letter to the VA Chairman, Jeff Miller, Boustany says the VA has ignored their legal obligation to request funding from Congress so there is no delay in the award of leases for both clinics. The VA needs the funding by the end of the calendar year. But the VA has not told Boustany when they plan to submit their formal request.
In Boustany's letter he says, "Once again, when officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs fail to pay attention to detail, the veterans of South Louisiana are left to suffer. The end of the year is fast approaching, so why hasn't the VA submitted its formal request? Why wasn't this done years ago?"
The clinics have been discussed since 2008.
