(Washington, DC) - Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement:
"The news media has a responsibility to report the news in an unbiased manner so citizens can make educated decisions on issues of national significance. How can people become informed if the news media refuses to report on pertinent and socially consequential stories because of an ideological bias? The national dialogue is skewed when the American people do not have access to all the facts.
"Such is the case with the national news media's total lack of coverage of the Kermit Gosnell infanticide trial in Pennsylvania, as well as the pro-abortion organization Planned Parenthood's lobbying effort on behalf of after-term abortions in Florida. These two examples clearly point out what many conservative have long suspected - the lack of media coverage of the pro-life cause is real, and it has tangible influence on the national debate. My conservative colleagues and I have written this letter to the national broadcast networks to highlight these facts and to remind them of their obligation to perform fair and balanced coverage of this issue."
