BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) Bossier City Council plans to raise city sewer rates by $8 per month, regardless of usage, and issue up to $82 million in sewer-related bonds.

The Times reports the fee would be $12 per month for a few subdivisions outside the city limits but to whom the city still supplies sewer.

The city expects to receive about $165,000 per month from the increase, which it plans to use to help pay for part of what could be an up to $86 million reworking of the city's major sewer plant along the Red River.

The council members discussed the rate increase at their workshop meeting Tuesday.

The council will vote formally on the proposals June 15.
