The faculty and staff at Iberia Middle School, in an effort to give back to our community and spread the Christmas spirit of giving, will be hosting a bone marrow registry drive at Iberia Middle School on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
All donors must be 18 years or older, so this is only for adults. We would like to invite family members of IMS students as well as community members and any employees of the Iberia Parish School Board to stop by and get screened. The process is quite simple and painless, involving only a cheek swab. If you are blessed enough to become a match, the donor process does not necessarily involve the traditional method of extracting cells with a needle through your hip bone. There is another less-intrusive method by which you may be able to donate! You can obtain more information about the donor process at www.bethematch.org
Anyone who chooses to donate must report to the Iberia Middle School front office for a visitor's pass. Our address is 613 Weeks Island Road, New Iberia, LA 70560. Please consider joining the registry. For more information about the drive, please contact Gleacia Morales at 337-364-3927 or Carol Gros at 337-380-7449.
