NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - The Iberia Parish school system's bond rating has been raised to AA from A-plus by the ratings firm Standard & Poors.
School Board bond attorney Grant Schlueter tells The Advocate that few school systems in Louisiana have attained AA ratings.
The highest rating an organization can receive is AAA.
Schlueter said the rating improvement could mean big savings to the school system when it borrows money through bond sales.
