The Town of Arnaudville had to shut off part of its water system today due to a system upgrade. The customers affected are those living on Custom House Street.
Because of the shut-off, the water produced by the town's water supply system in that area is of questionable microbiological quality.
As a precaution, the Town of Arnaudville water supply system issued a boil advisory effective immediately to remain in effect until rescinded by the town's water supply system.
It is recommended that all customers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a tolling boil. The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one container to another, or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.
Please be sure to disinfect water prior to consumption until advised otherwise.
The Town of Arnaudville will rescind the boil advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that samples collected from the water supply system have shown our water to be safe.
