BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's newest state park opens next
week.
The Louisiana Office of State Parks says Bogue Chitto State
Park, located outside of Franklinton, will host its grand opening
on Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Along with the official ribbon cutting, the park is offering a
free day in the park to mark the opening and to give visitors a
first look at what the site B to offer.
The park's first 500 guests will get gifts and refreshments will
be provided throughout the day.
The park has four upland cabins and a lodge overlooking a
90-foot bluff, 81 RV camping sites and a group camp for overnight
visitors. There's also a visitors' center, conference room and
picnic pavilions, as well as a canoe launch, fishing piers, water
playground and 14 miles of equestrian trails and seven miles of
nature trails.
