BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 25-year-old Bogalusa man faces an automatic sentence of life in prison for killing a sleeping Baton Rouge man in 2011.
The Advocate reports that Anthony Peters was convicted Friday night of second-degree murder of 41-year-old Gregory King.
State District Judge Richard Anderson scheduled sentencing March 1, but life in prison is the only possible sentence for second-degree murder.
Police went to King's home on Sept. 15, 2011, after his relatives reported they had not heard from him in two days.
He had been shot in the head.
Prosecutor Tracey Barbera said King was asleep in his bed when he was killed. She said the motive was not clear.
