LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Federal authorities say an offshore natural gas platform worker died after falling into Gulf waters.
The Wednesday morning accident happened on an Apache Corporation production platform about 150 miles south of Lake Charles, according to a news release from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.
The Thursday news release said the victim is believed to have fallen while transferring from a vessel onto the platform. Other workers were able to get the victim onto the platform but he soon became unresponsive and was pronounced dead.
The victim's identity was not immediately available.
