Body of woman found on highway

PORT VINCENT, La. (AP) - Ascension Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on La. Highway 42.
Parish Sheriff Lt. Col. Paul Robert tells The Advocate the body of 26-year-old Melissa Barrileaux was found early Saturday morning.
Robert said state initially worked the scene after being called to a reported crash.
Trooper Russell Graham said the woman was hit by a car, but troopers determined the woman was dead before the car hit her.
Robert said autopsy results are still pending.
