Body of Texas Woman found in Jeff Davis Parish

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the victim whose body was found in Jeff Davis Parish as 33-year-old Stefanie McKenzie. She is from Houston, Texas. It is believed that her body had been at that location for at least 24 hours.

KATC has learned that as of yesterday afternoon (October 7), farm hands found a vehicle parked on a field road off of David Road south of Roanoke. A white female was found in the vehicle and was unresponsive. Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Deputies and the Multi-Agency Investigative Team arrived on the scene. The vehicle and female had been reported missing from Houston, TX area. Deputy Coroner arrived at scene and conducted preliminary exam. No foul play is suspected. Body was transported to Calcasieu Coroner for autopsy. Confirmation of notification of next of kin has not been received at this time. This death does not appear to be connected to the current cases being worked in Jefferson Davis Parish.
