Body left in car on Interstate 110 in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police say a 22-year-old Zachary man allegedly killed another man and left the body in a car on southbound Interstate 110.

Police spokesman L'Jean McKneely says a warrant accuses Walter Jerome Fort of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Police sent early Saturday to deal a reportedly stalled vehicle found the body of 24-year-old Silas Roderick Gibbs of Baker in the passenger seat. He had been shot.

McKneely said Sunday that police were still looking for Fort.

Fort could not be reached for comment. Calls to a phone number listed under his name got a rapid busy signal Sunday.

Police ask anyone who knows where he might be to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
