HOUMA, La. (AP) The body of a woman reported missing has been found in the Terrebonne Parish woods, and her husband is accused in her slaying.
Sheriff's Maj. Malcolm Wolfe says 38-year-old Kristi Verrett was reported missing Saturday about 6:30 p.m. by her 19-year-old son. The teenager told authorities his mother and father, 41-year-old Bernard Verrett, left their home about 3 a.m. Saturday following an argument. Wolfe says Bernard Verrett returned hours later, but the woman did not.
Her remains were found about 6:40 p.m. Sunday along a remote stretch of road.
Wolfe says Verrett was booked with second-degree murder and is being held without bond in the parish jail.
