MADISONVILLE, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain says the body of a woman found in an open field in Madisonville is that of a missing Alabama woman.
Strain says detectives found Melinda Denny's body around 10:15 a.m. Thursday as the searched on foot just off Brewster Road, between Highways 21 and 1077.
WVUE-TV reports the parish coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Strain said he is confident the case will ultimately lead to the arrest of Denny's boyfriend, Johnathan Nall, who has been cooperative in the investigation.
Denny, of Mobile, was last seen Saturday when deputies encountered the 26-year-old and Nall in a parking lot on Highway 21. Deputies later that day found Nall threatening to kill himself outside a gas station near Madisonville.
