Body found in submerged vehicle

COCODRIE, La. (AP) - State police say the body of a 29-year-old Golden Meadow Man was found Sunday in a submerged vehicle after apparently running off Louisiana Highway 56 in Terrebonne Parish.

Trooper First Class Evan Harrell says in a news release the 2009 GMC Sierra struck a fence pole, concrete barrier wall for gasoline storage tanks and three support pilings belonging to the Boudreaux's Marina before hitting the water.

Harrell says the owner of the Boudreaux's Marina notified state police of the damage.

Harrell says the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Water Patrol found the submerged vehicle and the bod of the driver, identified as Shawn Dardar. Dardar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harrell says routine toxicology tests are pending and the accident is under investigation.
