The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has confirmed the man found dead at a rest area in St. Landry Parish is the same man connected to a woman's murder in Lafayette. Forty-seven-year old Mellissa Lair, of 108 Lamas Circle, was found dead in her home overnight.

Forty-seven-year old Alanzo Denson, of Lafayette, was found dead in a car taken from Lair's home. Investigators say the man committed suicide. "Detectives believe a domestic altercation between Melissa Lair and Michael Denson occurred that night in which Lair was stabbed several times in the upper body by Denson, who then took Lair's vehicle and fled from the scene," Lafayette Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Lt. Craig Stansbury said. Denson and the missing car were found on I-49 north of Washington at the Dubison Rest Area.
