ST. GABRIEL, La. (AP) St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin says his department has opened a homicide investigation after finding the charred remains of a human body in a pasture.
Ambeau tells The Advocate that the body was found around 2 p.m. Wednesday near La. Highway 141.
He said it is unclear how long the body was there before it was discovered.
Ambeau declined to state the gender of the deceased, saying only that the body appears to be that of an adult.
Detectives from Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office are assisting St. Gabriel police with the investigation.
