LACOMBE, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish deputies are
investigating a body found in a burning vehicle.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said burned, skeletal remains had been found in the vehicle. Strain said it was not yet clear whether the incident was a homicide or suicide. It is likely that investigators won't know the cause of death, or whether the victim died before or after
the fire began, until the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office
completes an autopsy.
Deputies were called to the scene shortly before Tuesday evening by firefighters who believed they saw a body in a flaming vehicle.
The vehicle was registered to a rental company in Atlanta and had been rented to a Slidell-area woman.
