Two Acadiana men are safe after going missing in Grand Lake this weekend. Officials with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries say they found 24-year-old Tyler Smith of Iota and 28-year-old Gus Atkinson of Gueydan at 9:00 Saturday morning, 12 hours after they were reported missing. Investigators say the pair was fishing on the lake when their family notified them of a storm rolling into the area. As they were making their way to shore, winds and water kicked up and swamped their motorboat. Officials say the two were able to walk through shallow water to shore and dump the water out of their craft. Smith and Atkinson then tried to make it back to the boat launch, but the boat's motor died. They walked back to shore, where they waited until they were found. DWF says the case is still under investigation, but they do not suspect foul play.
