Board Changes Elementary School's Name to Johnston-Hopkins

The Iberia Parish School Board has voted to rename a school after a major university objected to its original name. The board voted unanimously last night to rename Johns-Hopkins Elementary School to Johnston-Hopkins Elementary School. The original name was chosen because it marked the merger of Johnston and Hopkins Elementary School. Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore raised complaints over possible confusion between the institutions and requested the name of the elementary school be changed.
