ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The LSU AgCenter will hold a forestry forum Feb. 23 in Alexandria.
Topics will include updates on biofuels plants in Madison and Rapides parishes, the state Department of Agriculture and Forestry's firefighting program, and oil and gas activity in central Louisiana. Wild pigs, the West-Central Louisiana Ecosystem Partnership, water issues in the Red River Watershed, and other issues affecting Louisiana forestry also will be discussed.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. at the evacuation shelter next to the LSU-Alexandria campus. The last presentation will be at 2:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is $25 before Feb. 17 and $40 after that. Checks can be mailed to Robbie Hutchins, LSU AgCenter assistant area forestry agent, 300 Grady Britt Drive, Alexandria, LA 71302.
