A state senator is proposing a bill that would allow voters to decide if they want traffic cameras in their city before cameras are installed. In cities where traffic cameras already exist, Senator Danny Martiny's bill would stop local governments from collecting fines until the issue is put on a public ballot. If the bill gets lawmakers' approval and Governor Jindal's signature, it would become law by January 1, 2013.
