Bike Lafayette to host the Pancake Ride

Bike Lafayette will be holding their annual winter cycling social at Girard Park in Lafayette January 25, 2014. The Pancake Ride provides a choice of group rides to suit different abilities and interests. Participants will be able to share a meal with fellow bicycle enthusiasts. There will also be information on local cycling resources and activities.


Group ride choices include:

•Early Bird Special - A fast-­paced ride out of town. 40 mile St. Martinville loop at 18-­20 mph pace. 8 am start.
• Middle of the Road - An intermediate ride on the outskirts of town. 25 mile out and back along
Bayou Tortue at 15-­17 mph pace. 8:30 am start.
• City Cruise - A beginner friendly ride. 10 mile Central Lafayette loop never faster than the
slowest rider. 9 am start.
• Kidical Mass - A family friendly ride for kids, kids at heart, and their parents or caregivers.
Girard Park ULL loop as slow as little legs need. Roll out at 11 am.

All rides will begin and end at the Girard Park Recreation Center.

A pancake breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 11 am at the Girard Park pavilion. Riders can eat before or after their ride at their option.

Bike Lafayette and T.R.A.I.L. representatives will be available to provide information on area cycling
clubs, standing group rides, popular routes, upcoming special events and ongoing efforts to improve
cycling conditions and make Lafayette a bicycle friendly community.

Bike Lafayette is a is a nonprofit organization working to promote bicycling for recreation and
transportation by building community among cyclists, educating about cycling safety, and advocating to
improve cycling conditions in and around Lafayette.
