On March 31, 2013, at 4:32 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 190 about 1 mile east of the Texas state line in Beauregard Parish.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Nissan Frontier driven by 69-year-old Robert Norman of Bon Wier, TX was traveling west on U.S. 190 when for unknown reasons his vehicle traveled off the left side of the highway. Norman then over-corrected to the right and lost control of the vehicle. The Nissan then entered a ditch on the right side of the highway and overturned.
Norman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Norman and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
This is the sixth fatal crash investigated by Louisiana State Police Troop D this year.
