PATTERSON, La. (AP) - The city of Patterson is seeing increasing incidents of black bears wandering into inhabited areas and disturbing garbage cans in a search for food.
It's been a problem south of the city's railroad tracks for some time and residents there are already required to have bear-proof garbage cans.
Now, The Daily Review of Morgan City reports (http://bit.ly/YgwdPk ) that the problem has spread. Mayor Rodney Grogan says the requirement may have to be expanded to other parts of the St. Mary Parish city.
