Be Fire Smart, Don't Get Burned

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, Southwest Association of Professional Firefighters, members of the Lafayette Fire Department, will be distributing door hangers with fire safety tips. The community service project is part of a fire prevention month campaign to educate the resident to "Be Fire Smart, Don't Get Burned". The Association will also install smoke detectors in homes in the Truman neighborhood consisting of Martin Luther King Drive.

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Center. Members will be walking the neighborhood knocking on doors and educating residents on fire safety.
