BBB of Acadiana honored with 2013 National Council Award

Better Business Bureau of Acadiana was honored last week as the recipient of the 2013 BBB Outstanding Communications Award at the 43rd Annual International Assembly of Better Business Bureaus in Austin, Texas.

BBB, which serves the seven parish Acadiana area, was chosen last week to receive the award for its outstanding communications with consumers, local media and businesses.

They were selected from the Better Business Bureau system consisting of 113 BBB's throughout the US and Canada.

The award is presented annually to the BBB deemed to have the most effective and excellent overall external communications program reaching consumers and businesses and internal communications to staff and Board of Directors.

The award highlighted BBB of Acadiana's efforts in communicating and living the BBB brand in external communications and programs across five different categories, including print and broadcast media, programs before groups, BBB-originated material and material from other sources, cooperation with private and public consumer protection groups and maintenance and expansion of membership support.

"We are honored to be recognized for the hard work and passion that the BBB team and board members bring to our mission to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust," BBB President and CEO Sharane Gott said.

All U.S. and Canadian BBBs were allowed one 2013 submission and the timeframe used for the judging consisted of the 12 months ranging from August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013.

The entry included information on several different forms of communications used by BBB of Acadiana that highlighted efforts in fulfilling the BBB mission through original materials.

BBB award submission included local scam alerts, news releases, national BBB blogs, news columns, TV appearances and public campaigns to bring awareness to local business issues.

According to Gott, the award was very special for BBB of Acadiana, one of the smallest in the international group of 113 across the U.S. and Canada.
